 Functional Medicine

Dr. Tammy approaches this healing path by having a divergent focus and multiple facet approach based on individualized treatment options for a patient.  This allows her to tap into differential pathways where Dr. Tammy addresses the patients thoughts, actions, beliefs and feelings around personalized treatment plans based on individual biochemistry, lifestyle and genetic predispositions.  Dr. Tammy and her team commission together to communicate these foundational imbalances and promote wholeness, wellness and health for the patient.  Functional medicine is a systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Each symptom or differential diagnosis may be one of many contributing to an individual's illness.

Dr. Tammy walks her patients down the path to healing by opening the doors on their relationships, exercise and movement, stress, sleep, and nutrition.  She then journeys with her patients from birth until the day the patient walks into the office to calculate a timeline to allow the detective work to begin on the path to wholeness and gratitude.

Rethink Food and Nutrition

FOOD IS ENERGY - At the most basic level, food is a fuel source necessary for the body to function.

FOOD IS INFORMATION - Byproducts of food convey messages and assist with various processes within the body (e.g.,

metabolism, cell signaling, detoxification, etc.).

FOOD IS CONNECTION - Food brings people together, often serving as a central focus of social gatherings and celebratory events. Additionally, both pleasant and unpleasant memories often incorporate the smell, taste, and texture of foods. The reasons behind food choices, cravings, and aversions aren’t always logical or rational, and these reasons can often be tied back to the connections we have to food.

FOOD IS MEDICINE - We are what we eat. Choosing nutrient-dense foods that send signals to the body for positive gene expression is a key component of optimal health. Foods and food behaviors influence the body and can contribute to underlying causes of disease, and these factors can be adjusted to move an individual toward their greatest state of health and healing.

about functional medicine

Rather than gathering a convergent, single thought or idea on consolidating our ideas in treatment options for a patient, functional medicine positions itself to develop a divergent, broadening of different ideas and thoughts for different directions in personalised treatment plans based on individual biochemistry, lifestyle and genetic predisposition. Patients and practitioners commission together to communicate these foundational imbalances and promote wholeness, wellness and health for the patient.  Functional medicine is a systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Each symptom or differential diagnosis may be one of many contributing to an individual's illness.

Dr. Tammy is an Institute of Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP) and Kresser Institute certified trained functional medicine and ancestral health practitioner.  Her treatment style addresses the underlying causes of disease using a systems-oriented, individualized approach, which engages both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It reflects a personalized lifestyle medicine approach that encompasses genetics, biomedicine, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications. The functional medicine timeline and matrix help organize the patient’s story and determine appropriate interventions for the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. FM is a balance of medicines. The biomedical component is part lab-based with natural health protocols that test and identify the presence and quantitative evidence of dysfunction of the various systems in the body. The tests are used to determine the required natural support needed to rebalance your body to whole and healthy state. The holistic medicine component is the the synchronization of the patient from an energetic level which encompasses the heart, mind, body, and spirit.
